Here's an email that ended up in my mailbox this morning.

_______

Good morning,

You have received an e-mail from Peikang Dai with the e-mail address of savechina@hotmail.com.  I am the Moderator of a Commission appointed by the Synod of Central, Northeastern Ontario and Bermuda within the Presbyterian Church in Canada.  Until yesterday, Mr. Dai was a minister ordained in the Presbyterian Church in Canada and was under the care and discipline of the church.

In October of 2008 the Synod appointed a commission to investigate 12 allegations against Mr. Dai out of the Presbytery of East Toronto.  In the investigation of those twelve allegations, the commission decided there was merit to lay three charges against Mr. Dai.  Those three charges were then tried on Monday August 31st at Trinity York Mills Presbyterian Church.

After long thought and prayer, the commission has determined a verdict based on what was seen and heard on the day of the trial.

To the fist charge, that the Reverend Peikang Dai, since 2007, have engaged in a consistent pattern of refusing to submit to the lawful oversight of the courts of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, the commission found him GUILTY.

To the second charge, that the Rev. Peikang Dai, since 2007, have engaged in a consistent pattern of divisive and disruptive conduct unbecoming a Minister of Word and Sacrament of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, the commission found him GUILTY.

To the third charge, that you, the Rev. Peikang Dai, since 2007, through misrepresentation of yourself have engaged in personal conduct unbecoming a Minister of Word and Sacrament of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, the commission found him GUILTY.

The commission spent considerable time considering an appropriate censure for these guilty verdicts.  The commission decided on September 28th 2009 that the censure would be in two parts.

Censure

1.     The Commission deposed Mr. Peikang Dai from his office of Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church in Canada – as per section 373 in the Book of Forms
a.     Specifically, it means that:
                                          i.    Mr. Peikang Dai is no longer a minister in the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
2.     The commission suspended Mr. Dai from being a member in any congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Canada for a period of five years as per section 369 of the Book of Forms.
a.     Specifically, it means that:
                                          i.    Mr. Dai is suspended from becoming a member of any congregation in the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
ii.    Mr. Dai is suspended from voting privileges in any Presbyterian congregation that he may become an adherent of.
b.    The commission made it very clear to Mr. Dai that his suspension does not include the privilege of receiving the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.  He may continue to receive and celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion, but you no longer have the right to administer the Sacraments.

If you decide you no longer wish to receive e-mails from Mr. Dai, you can right click on the e-mail and mark it as junk mail and to block his e-mails from coming into your mailbox.

Sincerely,

Sean J. Foster
On behalf of the Commission appointed by the Synod of Central, Northeastern Ontario and Bermuda within the Presbyterian Church in Canada

Apparently, it's being referred to a special commission.

www.presbyterian.ca/webfm_send/5309

Recommendation No. 9 was moved by G.S. Malcolm, duly seconded. Adopted.
That Appeal No. 1 (p. 26.1.1) re appeal against the verdict and censure of a commission of the Synod of Central Northeastern Ontario and Bermuda against Mr. Peikang Dai be referred to a Special Commission, consisting of five individuals not from the Synod of Central Northeastern Ontario and Bermuda, established to deal with Appeal No. 1. Among the terms of reference, the following to be included:
     -   The Commission shall first determine if the appeal is in order.
     -   Expenses shall be reimbursed on a reasonable basis for the members of the commission.
     -   The commission shall have the authority to determine the number of witnesses each party may call and the duration of their presentations.
